Does Dr. Voorhees administer Psychological Testing?

Yes, he performs testing for psychological evaluations to help in diagnosis
for medication management by a psychiatrist or when required for gastric

by­‐pass surgery or spinal cord implant surgery, and for assessment of
Attention Deficit Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome or Autism.

 

How long will the testing take?

This is determined by the tests that are administered. It can take up to 

three hours in the office.



Will I get a copy of the testing results?

​For educational and Attention Deficit Disorder Assesment the parents and/or school will receive a copy. For all other testing, the report is mailed to the pysician that reqested the testing and the patient does not get a copy.



Will my insurance cover these tests?

​Dr. Voorhees will complete all required pyschological testing authorization forms and submit them to your insurance carrier. As mentioned earlier, it is always a good idea for the patient to contact their insurance directly to find out if these services are covered. Results may not be release until authorization is obtained from from insurance.

 

Will I have a co-pay for tests?

Yes, you will be asked to pay the co pay listed on your insurance card under Specialist.  If this is incorrect, you will receive a statement requesting payment for amounts not covered by your insurance or applied to your deductible. Testing is billed as two line items:  Initial Evaluation and Psychological Testing.​

Does Dr. Voorhees testify in court for Court Custody Evaluations?

No, he no longer testifies for custody cases.

 

Where can I get a copy of "The Codependent Christian"?

It will be available on Amazon.com in November of 2013.

 

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

CBT helps patients understand how thoughts and feelings are connected. People can learn how to identify and change destructive and disturbing thought patterns that influence their behavior.

 

Will Dr. Voorhees prescribe medicine as a part of my treatment?

No, but he may recommend that you see a psychiatrist, pediatrician or general practitioner for medication management.
